Balquhidder Church - Waterfalls on the path up to Creag an Tuirc

Balquhidder Church is probably best known for the last resting place of Rob Roy MacGregor, but if you do get a chance to visit, be sure to also take a walk up to the magnificent waterfalls that lie behind the Church.

if you look closely from the back of the church,  you can see that there is a path that leads up to a Creag an Tuirc (this was also the ancient rallying place of Clan MacLaren, who gathered up here).

After about a 5 minute walk you can begin to hear water over its banks and hitting stone, surrounded by a forest, soon you reach these waterfalls that are beautiful. For those who have seen the movie "Rob Roy" (starring Liam Neeson) you will notice that it was the real escape route that Rob used to escape troops searching for him, following the river you reach the cave mentioned where this historical figure hid.

Here's a video of the falls taken when they were in full spate, (give it a moment to download, it will then play automatically :)
