Balquhidder Mhor Lodge hosts its first 50th Birthday Celebration

posted on

What a fantastic location Balquhidder Mhor Lodge is to celebrate a special birthday. Stunning scenery, starry nights, beautiful walks, fine dining at Mhor 84, relaxing in the hot tub and just a wee bit of your favourite tipple all make up a wonderful weekend.

Special guests arrived on the Friday. The sky was clear and the temperature was dropping but everyone was warmed up with a wee glass of fizz.

The party was hosted at Balquhidder Mhor Lodge with guests also staying at the other fabulous lodges on the Balquhidder Braes Holiday Park.

Dinner was just a mile down the road at Mhor 84. What a tremendous menu and wine selection. Fresh oysters with a whiskey and lemmon sauce, followed by wild pigeon for a starters and delicious venison for the main. Others had quail stuffed with black pudding followed by crispy pig belly. The vegan menu was also fantastic.

A clear, frosty, starry night was the perfect backdrop for guests to enjoy the hot tub.

Saturday was nice a fresh. The cobwebs (and other ailments!) were blown away with a Bombardino coffee, followed by a beautiful walk up the path behind and overlooking Balquhidder Mhor Lodge, before crossing onto the Rob Roy Way and making our way over to the Mhor 84 bar for a couple of refreshments. It was dark by the time we left Mhor 84 but we made our way along a very safe bicyle path (Route 7), a mile back up the road to the lodges.

Dinner on Saturday was a 'Jacobs Joint' affair, with our guests (who were all quite handy in the kitchen) preparing a number of fantastic dishes...followed by more merriment and of course a dip in the hot tub.

Sunday was a bit more relaxed. A beautiful walk around the Rob Roy Way to the north of the lodge, heading down to Mhor 84 for a couple of drinks - of course :) The evening was rounded off with some dodgy guitar playing and some wonderful singing.

Balquhidder Mhor Lodge was a most wonderful relaxing location to celebrate a very special birthday.
